It’s weird, these things that remind you.
One of my current roommates has decided to develop a hideous crush on me and so as a stalling tactic, I’ve been hiding out in my room and drowning myself in old SGA stories — and guys, I’m re-remembering why I love these two. In the show and in the stories we write about them there’s always such a thread of affection, and even when it’s grudging, there’s a wonderful sense of caring there — and stories that lack it I generally hate with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. Whether or not they’ve been recced to high heaven. And rereading has made me all soppy in the soul over things like Suddenly at Last by Yin and Slow and Steady by Kellifer, two stories I love to an embarrassing degree. And then there’re always other fandom classics, like Oblivious by shalott and Thicker Than Water by Julad, they’re like the reading equivalent of hot soup for me — comforting and thick and wonderful.
It makes me wish for the fourth season to hurry up already! And it makes me wish somebody would fulfill my wildest dream and write all the things for which I yearn on demand: Jane Sheppard fic, John’s ex-wife fic (fuck! I have to get back to that), psycho ex-boyfriend fic (come on, you know you love this sort of trashy shit, too — especially if, and I know, I know, this is horrible: if John’s ex-boyfriend was this total lunatic and all hell bent on threatening John’s life if he leaves him, but the thing is that John didn’t notice he was nuts and just went about his business as usual because, come on, as if anybody who isn’t Teyla or Ronon or Teyla and Ronon could kick his ass to the floor so easily. Meanwhile, McKay finds out and insanity ensues. COME ON YOU KNOW YOU LOVE IT.)
So! My friends, I ask you for recommendations of comfort stories in any of the fandoms in which I read (NCIS, SGA, Supernatural, SV, and a metric asston of animes).
Oh, and for those of you who have been reading Harudaki? No, there is no fanfiction. I know.
And that means, if any of you would like to you know, write me some good Harudaki in which Katou and Iwaki adopt a baby, I WOULD TOTALLY ROCK THAT SHIT, TOO.
I read all the NCIS fic you tag’d on del.icio.us and went to search for more. I wanted to CLAW MY EYES OUT. And here I thought there were bad fics in the SGA & Prince of Tennis fandoms! D:

As for recs, hmm, have you read Straight as a Circle by Toomuchplor on LJ? In which John wakes up straight? Amazing, complex, fabulous.

You’ve prolly seen these already, but I find myself turning to Slow Braille of Touch when I need comfort food reading. Also, for some reason, An Aesthetic Solitary Thing.
I’ve always liked Visting Hours by Lily http://www.improvidence.net/visiting_hours.html in the SGA fandom, or Ratio of Burning, but I can’t remember where it is.
On a side note I have to say your PC/Mac post made me laugh because I always see McKay as PC and John as Mac.

My FAVORITE part of the Harudaki series is the beginning of part 4, where Katou randomly attacks Iwaki and then, you know, they have sex. In a car. In a way that should be physically impossible, yet is not, because it’s anime and anything goes.
I have yet to read 5 & 6, but I would totally write you baby!fic. Do you have any requests? I mean, there are a lot of options, such as a) Katou finds a baby abandoned at a bus stop and brings it home and FREAKS THE HELL OUT when Iwaki suggests they maybe contact the police, like sane human beings, or b) they go to an orphanage and there are five hundred photographers and they get in an argument over which kid to bring home and accidentally end up adopting two, or, c) Iwaki stubbornly refuses to accept the baby for like a month and Katou freaks up a lot but loves it anyway and then he’s forced to go to an emergency filming session and he leaves the baby with Iwaki and just really hopes no one dies and comes back to find them cuddling on the sofa and in true parental love, and then he cries, because Katou is a girl.
I’m just saying, PICK AN OPTION. I can totally be found at setissma @ yahoo.com if you actually want fic, because you know what? I have nothing else to do! And it would make the world a better place.
Or, you know, “out” as opposed to “freaking up” which kind of sounds like some weird dance move. Oh, typos.
Oh my God. Katou is SUCH a girl — and I’m almost afraid of the consequences if they were to have a kid. God, can you even imagine what kind of evil dad Iwaki would be if they had a daughter and she wanted to start DATING? Their relationship dynamics are so weird — like, alone, Iwaki is totally the wife; in any other context, with any other things, oh my GOD is Iwaki like the totally hardass husband who scares away potential boyfriends and okay I’m going to shut up RIGHT NOW.

Re: Harudaki, there was that one story where Iwaki-san heard a baby crying during sex, but then he started hearing it all the time, and long story short he was possessed by the spirit of his sister’s unborn child. If anything happened to Iwaki-san’s family, there’s totally a canon baby there for the taking!

I cannot figure out how to reply to comments in a thread, because blogs hate me, but!
You know she would totally lose it with his overprotective streak and sneak out *to see a boy* and Katou would probably actually kind of be a normal parent along the lines of, you know, “She’s sixteen. Hey, look on the bright side, at least she doesn’t have a career in porn! Ha.. ha…” And Iwaki would brood all over and worry she’d been kidnapped and catch her sneaking back and he’d be all “YOU’RE GROUNDED FOR LIFE” and then of course she’d cry and he’d be forced to give up and unground her because Iwaki cannot take crying, especially from his Precious Little Girl.
And then of course he’d follow her to the movies on her next date and sneakily brood in the last row eating popcorn, and maybe they’d like hold hands and he’d be in agony and then if the boy LOOKED like he was going to kiss her he’d be forced to go over and be like, “THAT’S MY DAUGHTER.”
And then she’d tell him she was never speaking to him again, and Iwaki would be all sulky and morose, and Katou would be like, “Well, what did you expect,” and maybe make some cookies or give him a blowjob or something.

“So what’s the deal with Tall Dark and Homicidal?” Rodney demands, following Sheppard into the control room. Sheppard has his shoulders hunched up around his ears; clearly he doesn’t want to talk about it. Clearly Rodney doesn’t care. That sergeant practically sent death rays shooting out of his eyes when he saluted, and Rodney’s really the only person in Atlantis who’s allowed to actively wish death upon Sheppard. He’s earned it.
“He’s–you know. I knew him back in the day.” Sheppard’s still scooting away, and Rodney’s following him now more out of habit than because they’re having a conversation - because he follows Sheppard, that’s what he does.
“You ‘knew’ him? I thought he was going to kill you with the power of his *mind*. Did you steal his woman or run over his cat or something?”
“I kind of… well. You know,” Sheppard adds brightly, ducking through the corridor and making tracks toward the armory, “I’m not really supposed to tell.”
“I’m Canadian,†Rodney snaps, “So I can certainly ask all I want, wait, what? There’s something to ask?†Rodney can feel his eyes bugging out, and he knows it isn’t his most devastatingly attractive expression, but– “Oh my God, there’s something to *tell*?â€
“Well,†Sheppard shrugs, “I guess. I mean.â€
“You *guess*? Wait, don’t tell. Okay. Twenty questions, first question is, is it bigger than a… than… did you sleep with him?†Because Rodney’s never been patient at the best of times.
“Look, it was a long time ago. I’m sure that whatever we did, which I’m not telling you we did anything, but if we did anything, whatever it was, it was all, you know. A long time ago. I’m sure.â€
“How sure?†Rodney doesn’t want to mention the Crazy Eyes of Crazy at this point, but suffice it to say that he is less sure of anything regarding Simon Donovan than Sheppard is.
“You know.†And Sheppard shrugs again. “Pretty sure.”
“Oh my God, I’m putting you under surveillance,” Rodney mutters, and abandons him at the doors to the armory.

Saw your Harudaki posts - I totally agree there should be more love for it. There actually is one piece of fanfiction for it out there: “AV” by Gryvon at http://www.gryvon.com/fanfic/manga/av.html. As far as I know, though, that’s it. Youka Nitta doesn’t seem to pack in the yaoi writers quite like Yamane Ayano.
I have to say, that I could not agree with you in 100% regarding , but it’s just my opinion, which could be wrong :)
