The situation has been dealt with, I don’t need any sympathy, really, because it turns out I have (a) seriously amazing neighbors and (b) seriously, seriously amazing roommates. Nobody was hurt; everything was fine. It’s all just money. But in the context of the generalized shit-tacularness of this past week — wow.

This brings me joy: the moment in Dick Francis’ ‘Rat Race’ when the protagonist first meets his, um, ‘friend’ Colin (the former being an air taxi pilot, the latter a jockey):
“A Ford-of-all-work rolled down the road past the grand-stands, came through the gates in the boundary fence, and bounced over the turf towards the aircraft. It stopped about twenty feet away, and two men climbed out. The larger, who had been driving, went round to the back and pulled out a canvas and leather overnight grip. The smaller one walked on over the grass. I took my weight off the wing and stood up. He stopped a few paces away, waiting for the larger man to catch up. He was dressed in faded blue jeans and a whitish cotton weater with navy-blue edgings. Black canvas shoes on his narrow feet He had nondescript brownish hair over an exceptionally broad forehead, a short straight nose, and a delicate feminine looking chin. All his bones were fine and his waist and hips would have been the despair of Victorian maidens. Yet there was something unmistakably masculine about him: and more than that, he was mature. He looked at me with the small still smile behind the eyes which is the hallmark of those who know what life is really about. His soul was old. He was twenty-six.”
… and then they spend the rest of the book touching and grinning and gazing. *sigh* Obviously and regrettably, there is canon het to ruin the fun, but it’s still a thing of joy.

Well, if you want a pick-me-up, console yourself that you a)almost got me fired and b)proved that I work at the MOST AWESOME PLACE EVER.
Because I was of course checking out your site and giggling at the way inappropriate humor of Mac going down on PC (which he would, if you think about it, because he just wants PC to relax! Go with the flow! Stop being such a square, man, it’s just a blowjob between pals) and my boss (60-odd grandma of two) totally walks by.
