Hot Fuzz, and why Simon Pegg may have to gird his loins should he ever encounter me on a street.
And by “gird his loins,” I mean, brace himself for me roaring up to him with a starry look in my eyes telling him how AWESOME he is in a way that will allow him to hear every single capital letter in AWESOME. Hot Fuzz was amazing and also AWESOME. Minervacat, Triskellita, Darastar, LN and I were nearly in TEARS throughout the movie, although there was considerably more surprised flailing on LN and I’s side of the row since we were seeing it for the first time. Ya’ll, I am not shitting you. At one point, LN had to slap my flailing hands down so I wouldn’t injure her or myself. This is worth the first-run movie tickets; in fact, I’m considering going to see it again with Roommate, who was unfortunately detained by Family Obligations today and could not join us on our discovery of the magicaliciousness of the word “yarp.”
Oh, and also: gayest. movie. buddy-cops. evar.
You see that? I wrote it with an “a” — in italics. That means I’m for hardcore.
Watch this space for Hot Fuzz shenaniganry coming v. v. v. soon.
if you and the roommate go to see it, i would seriously consider going for a third time.
also, i came home from target and promptly sat down and wrote 71 words of hot fuzz fic before even putting the milk in the fridge, so, uh, i guess we’re leading this revolution together, yo.
I saw it last night and I completely agree. AWE. SOME.
Oh, and also: gayest. movie. buddy-cops. evar.
Totally. And deliberately. I read an interview with Pegg, Frost, and Wright (probably in the Onion AV Club) in which they said that Angel’s girlfriend was meant to play a larger role, but during filming they ended up writing her out early — and giving her lines to Danny.
I saw Simon Pegg in an interview with one of the late night talk guys where he mentions the inherent homosexuality in buddy films. I love that he’s really been running with that theme in his films. It’s especially hilarious if you’ve seen Point Break or Bad Boys 2 and know the scenes that they pay super gay homage to in Hot Fuzz.
Hah! Yes! God, ‘Hot Fuzz’ = best cop movie EVER.
Before I went, I watched an interview here in London where Simon Pegg was explaining how it had something for everybody - including latent sexual tension between the two male leads. So all that tension between the two cops? Completely intentional!
AWESOMEST. MOVIE. EVER.
I was so excited when I saw the preview for it, because I absolutely LOVED Shaun of the Dead. JUST AS AMAZING.
